A Voice Reclaimed

In the twilight years, voices may fade,
Words once sharp now gently evade.
But hope steps in with a healing hand,
Speech therapy’s gift, profoundly grand.
Through whispered tones and patient care,
It rebuilds bridges in hearts laid bare.
For each syllable practiced, each sound refined,
A piece of dignity is lovingly redefined.
Memories locked behind silent walls,
Find their way through therapeutic calls.
A phrase regained, a heartfelt cheer—
Communication blossoms, banishing fear.
From shaky whispers to songs anew,
Speech therapy paves paths to pursue,
Life’s conversations, laughter, and lore,
Opening the world’s wide-open door.
So let the elderly find their voice,
Through guidance, kind and choice by choice.
Each utterance a triumph, bold and true,
Speech therapy brings their spirit through.
May is known as National Speech-Language-Hearing Month (NSLHM). This month is dedicated to raising awareness about communication disorders, such as speech, language, and hearing impairments. It also recognizes the role of speech-language pathologists (SLPs) in providing support and treatment to individuals with these conditions. If you need speech-language therapy (learn more about what we do here), then speak to LifeCare, and we can request an order from your doctor.
